When Inspiration Hits

So I was checking some comics on Thursday morning and I saw an interesting way to draw a moustache. So I doodled with it and I just kept on going and going and going.

This was the result.

You might have to click on it to see all the details...

I present to you... BAXTER THE BATTLE BUTLER! Yes yes I can be really bored sometimes but it was just an idea that popped in my head I found rather humorous. WHAT IF the butlers of all these rich superheros had misadventures of their own? Well, one thing led to another and the result was... BAXTER THE BATTLE BUTLER. Yes, I must type it in all caps because he IS that EPIC. In any case, enjoy my occasional bouts of extreme boredom.

The misadventures will continue on Saturday! :D

Clickin' my little red heels - Part 3

Well well! It's already Friday and we've had quite the misadventure already eh? Well, this post documents the happenings of that fateful day.

Friday was a special day because it was the first ever Pioneer Session (the one you have before a Circuit Assembly) for the Vietnamese only. We had the pioneers from the Sacramento congregation come down and it was quite a blast. I believe about 55 were in attendance. Not a bad turnout eh? :D

My dad is deciding whether or
not he should put on his glasses...

WHY?!

Cramming before an interview never worked girls!!!

"Paul, stop looking at us!!!"

Jeff: "They had better not MESS UP my interview with them."
Lisa/Lynna: ":c"

Random pictures of the Kingdom Hall

So they had a new sound system installed (think Mac)
but it didn't work (why am I not surprised?) so they went back to old school.
AWWW YEAH!

Looks like SOMEONE came prepared for the spiritual feast... heh heh

Do you know how hard it is to take good pictures
when you're stuck doing sound? Sigh.

Apparently our stand-in for Br. Mendenhall
has a Vietnamese wife too!

What's with these circuit overseers
and their yellow fever?!

What with these guys and their CO fever?!

After the very awesome session (I can't tell you the details, go to YER OWN Pioneer Session eh?!), my father and I took out Br./Sis. McCaslin out for lunch. It was a rather late lunch (does 2PM count as lunch?) and the restaurant is kind in the middle of nowhere so it was quite literally JUST US at the restaurant. Sometimes it's nice to get some personal time with a CO and I was able to get a LOT of questions answered. We were kind of "shoo-ed" out of the restaurant because some of the workers had to go to a funeral (and the restaurant closes at 3, reopens at 5:30) so we just left.

It turns out we couldn't get enough of each other so Sis. McCaslin and I started chit-chatting (more like girl-talk actually, haha) outside about my assignment and the adjustments I had to make while Br. McCaslin started talking to my dad. As it turns out, Br. McCaslin and my dad were only talking because they were waiting for Sis. McCaslin and I but we were only talking because we were waiting for Br. McCaslin and my dad! Wow, I think I understand elder's wives a bit more... Don't judge me!

Anyways, we had a little gathering at our home to prepare for so I went home and waited a couple of hours until it was time. Now my sister was home and didn't have any homework to do so we just hung out.

This is how we usually hang out...

Yes... her legs are on my back :c

You can't see it but I'm actually reading a book... -_-

Paul: "What am I? Just a pillow for you?"
Vivi: "Yes! Now quiet and be a good pillow!"
Paul: "Yes ma'am. :C"

Jeff/Thu and Josh/Jess came by for some pho but it was still some time until we ate so the boys occupied themselves...

We like Legos ^_^

Paul: "I want that piece!"
Josh: "GET YER OWN!"

Yeah, we were reaallllllyyyy bored...

My helicopter/car is attacking Jeff, pew pew!
Jeff: "OH NOESSSS"

Getting ready for the FEASTING.

My sister is drinking a pina colada... that's virgin.

Honest! 0:)

So many drinks. I gotta admit, my dad makes a wicked awesome pina colada.

My momma told me to stop playing with my food, but I just can't help it! ;D

It's kind of ugly I know, but I needed more hot sauce! :c

Ah yes, the drink(s) of kings!

For some reason we (my sister and I) were asked to draw a Kiwi and one thing led to another...

They asked for a penguin so I drew THE Penguin (for all you comic book fans)

Thu: "So the fruit was THIIIIIS big"
Jess: "OMGAWD IS THAT A FRUIT?!"

Gettin' ready to make Tiramisu...

David messing with my camera again... sigh!

Funny story. Thanh just got this new digital camcorder and has been taking videos nonstop so the whole time he was watching Jeff demonstrate on how to make tiramisu. What most people don't know is that you can't eat tiramisu right away but it has to be chilled in a refrigerator for at least a day. Imagine the poor guy, watching and drooling the whole time... only to be told that he can't have any! Har har I laugh at you! More tiramisu for meeeeeeeeee. :D

After dinner we all decided to hang out at Viet's place for some ping pong and not to mention Viet was begging me for lessons (on how to get a smackdown!) so I had no choice but to indulge the poor guy.

Needless to say, I gave him a very good lesson. ;)

Great room for ping pong

This is Timmy, the classiest guy I know.

Vu likes playing the piano while
Duy looks at pictures of young girls.
That guy. Haha

Me/Vu ended up playing the only
duet we know, "Heart and Soul"

Well, since there was a bunch of us at Viet's house (practically all the young ones) we decided to go mob at Quickly's and get $1 milk tea. Needless to say, it was rather impressive when 20+ kids just storm into a milk tea shop.

Lynna and her camera = inseparable

Anna turned out to be more
than Bobbi could bear HAH!

Boys and their toys...

Why does Lynna always give me the
strangest looks when I'm taking a candid shot? Darn!

So today was the day a little feud started between Moses and I. See, Moses was wearing a rather tight black shirt and since it was cold... you could see his nipples. Now I normally wouldn't care about that stuff but I was sitting down and he was just standing right next to me and those things nearly poked my eye out!

So anyways, to get some revenge, I looked at Moses and asked him, "Hey Moses, it's pretty cold ain't it?" and stared right at his... "indicators." Moses looked at me and asked, "What do you mean?" and then realized what I was looking at. His response?

"Frickin' Paul!"

Ah yes, that was the beginning of a feud alright of which I gave him much grief over for the next few days. >:] That night I got pretty much all the boys to come up to him and ask "It's pretty cold ain't it?" and stare in a downwards fashion. Each time was followed by a "Frickin' Paul!" Oh the good times...

"Frickim' Paul!"

Thanh: "Hey man, isn't it kind of cold?"
Moses: "Frickin' Paul!"

After Quickly's, we all headed to Tony's house for some video games and drinks. He just moved into a new apartment (not really, but new for me!) and it was really nice!

The "entertainment lounge"

Where all the joy is made ^__^

To all you single sisters,
Tony is a FANTASTIC cook *WINK*

Paul: "Hey Moses, it's pretty cold ain't it?" *STARE*
Moses: "Frickin' Paul!"

Boys and their toys... Part 2!

Tony and Timmy are fixing a controller but look at Duy's face!
Can anyone say... GAME ZOMBIE?! hahahahaha

Dude, seriously, at least close your mouth. Drool is coming out!

More zombies...
gaammeessss.... GAAAMMMEEESSSS...

In any case, it was getting late and we had circuit assembly the next day so I went home and prepared for the next day. It was going to be ONE busy weekend.

"Frickin' Paul!"

Clickin' my little red heels - Part 2

Hello and welcome to part 2! As I was going through all the pictures.. I just realized how well documented this day was... so I guess I'll just tell the story through pictures rather than give you a giant wall of text. :c

My home since I was 7...

I grew up on the hard streets of
Burgundy Drive YO!

So I was planning to go out in service on Thursday since it would be a good opportunity to see my CO again but there was one slight problem... I HAD NO CAR! :C So... sucking up my pride, I had to call Lisa to pick me up. It's just so strange to be home but have no car to go to all the places you normally would go to on your own... Anyways, after some bartering (8:30! No! 8:50? How about 8:45? Deal!) with Lisa, we finally settled on a time for her to pick me up...

"Why did I agree to this??"

When we arrived at the service meeting, we were a tad late. As a result, I ended up sitting in the back but everyone kept taking double takes of me like, "Whoa, is that Paul?" "He's back already?" "Wow he's so FAT!" Sigh... the fat jokes never end... :c

I ended up going out in service with C. Tim, A. Toan, and... VANESSA!!!!

OMG SHE'S SO CYUUUUUUUUTE!

She likes to play with leaves apparently...
She has two in one hand so she has a
free hand to hold mine... d'awwwwwwww :)

Just walkin in the middle of the street...
Cuz we're cool like that...

"I see them at home but I think they're hiding mom!!!"

We decided to go get some lunch with the CO and sub-CO at a local Vietnamese restaurant. So nice to eat good Vietnamese food again!

"Fake smiles everyone!!!!"

The McCaslins... by far the most awesome CO couple I've met so far.

Wow! Didn't know we had the
Blue Man Group eating with us too! ;D

Mmmm... rice noodle + bbq pork + fried fish + fish sauce = NARM NARM NARM!

I think David is attempting to "sing"... I think...

After dinner I decided to go hiking with Jeff/Thu and their friends from Pennsylvania, Josh and Jessica. We stopped by at my house for some quick refreshments (and so I could change too) and we headed out to Alum Rock Park!

Jeff/Thu: "Hurry up you guys!"

Josh/Jess: "We ran as fast as we could!!!"

I like Jeff's look of total disgust on his face, LOL!

SQUIRRRRRREELLLLL!!!!!

(For all you who watched "Up!")

Just a regular trail...

Mmmm... 1st prize in National Geographic... ;D

Jeff: "IS THAT A BIRDDDDD?"
Thu: "I'm so sleepy..."
Jess: "It's only been 5 minutes since we started walking!!!"

I felt kind of awkward cuz I was with two married couples.
It's not like they need a chaperone or anything! Gosh!

Josh never liked taking the well-worn path...

~The hills are aliveeee... with the sound of MUUUUsiiiic~

"Oh shoot! Paul is catching this on camera. POSE!"

"We don't pose for nobody!"

SQUIRRELLLLLL!!!!!

Josh is demonstrating how a
squirrel's nose moves as it eats.
Twitchy twitch twitch...

Jess: "It feels like I'm flying Josh... I'm flying!"
Josh: "Stop quoting Titanic!"

This was a pretty big rock,
but C. Thu seemed to climb it no problem

Jeff: "Dude... is my wife mooning me?"

High up yes? Do I get my mancard back yet?!

Mmmm good ol Silicon Valley...

Josh: "Come on honey we're trying to take a picture!"

Awwwww how cute

Josh doesn't seem to like pictures too much

Did I tell you that Josh is 1/2 mountain goat?

This fool climbs all over the place!

Fun fact: Josh was actually born in the mountains. His backyard is just like Alum Rock Park. If anything, he's a mountain man. I feel so inadequate around him. :c

More scenery...

It was time to come down...
but there was a bit of difficulty involved...

Dude hurry up C. Thu!
I can see my hair growing gray already!!

We happened upon a rather steep hill and
Jess decided to see if she could go down safely...

...Guess not!

Jeff to the rescue!

C. Thu: "OMG I was soooooooooo scared!"

I ran down first since I'm all manly like that :p

Note C. Thu holding on to Jeff for dear life. Hah!

Jeff: "I'll protect you honey!"
Thu: "... from what?"

Jeff: "Weird Asian guys who take
pictures of everything... like PAUL!"

We happened on some even STEEPER terrain so the folks wanted to document my manliness in how I traversed this obstacle...

"Hold on! I need to uh... take some time in
putting away my water bottle... yes..."

"Uh... no problem...
just uh... don't look down
omgijustlookeddownithinki'mgoingtodie."

C. Thu at this point is laughing at my wimpiness :c

I ended up running all the way down (no ABS!)
If you look closely, I'm crouching down saying a
prayer to Jehovah... thanking Him for
safe passage down that deathtrap.

How come I didn't get Jeff to support me? Humph!

C. Thu comes barreling down annnnd she's first!!!

Josh thinks he's Spiderman or something...

*shrug* It seemed like a good idea at the time...

"OMGAWD IS THAT A FRUIT?!"

When we got home I prepared some tea for everyone.

This is my FAVORITE cup. I wonder why... ;)

My sister... being all nice and cleaning the dishes :)

I don't know how she can study on her bed... I always end up sleeping!

Oh yeah, if you think that's a lot of stuffed animals...
you should see the other end of the bed! :x

Mmmmm so tired...

Monkeyyyyyyyyy.... mmmmmmmm...

And that's my sister's pillow! Not mine! HONEST!

Anyways, the young ones want to go get ramen so we all head out to one of my favorite ramen places. Ajisen Noodle! (Formerly known as Gen Ramen :[)

Tony showing off a video about some
stupid Chinese kid stunning himself with a taser.
Good times... good times :D

The Motley Crew

Lynna and Jennifer Anh Thu (or Be)

Remember when I said Lynna was camera shy? I lied.

I like taking pictures of people taking pictures of OTHER people.

Why does Be look like a fish?

If you know me, I always take
pictures at the most random times.

Candid shots FTW!

The rest of the Motley Crew

Duy (or as I like to call him, Playerrrr) and Viet

Be is taking a picture so I naturally had to shoot one off too

Why does everyone keep stealing my hat?!

Paul: "Gimmie back my hat!"
Be: "NO FOO!"

Viet: "Hey check this out...
Vu is totally gonna jump on David and mess him up!"

Viet: "... or not."

It turns out David just grabbed on to Vu's arms
and started shaking him a lot. LOL!

We got some frozen yogurt after ramen...

"Wow... this banner is so nice...
I especially like the colors and and the font..."

DUDE JUST GO IN ALREADY!

This is Lynna's "normal" reaction
when she gets frozen yogurt.

"Look at all the toppings!!"

"There's so many to choose from!!!"

I wonder if she's looking at the toppings or that guy's butt.
CAUGHT RED HANDED SUCKER!

Viet's thinking... is everyone looking at me...?

Nope, we're watching Incredibles
ON THE BIG SCREEN BEHIND YOU!

Wow, everyone really likes this movie...

After frozen yogurt, we ended up going to Flames (WOW WE ARE SUCH PIGS!) for some MORE dessert and after dinner drinks.

Lynna got a slice of tiramisu.

Dude, that thing is like, bigger than your FACE.

I took some pictures so
you can see just how big this thing is.

DUDE! Heart attack on a plate!

Lynna pigging out...

Problem: Giant slice of tiramisu
Solution: Lynna
End result: NO PROBLEM!

Why is Anna smiling so big?
Is it cuz she's sitting next to Thanh?
Hmmmmm...

Will Anna grab the last Southwestern eggroll?

Yes. :(

Mmmm... gin and tonic,
the drink of gentlemen everywhere...

Everyone else called it an old man drink :(

Why is Lynna handling all the money?!

What you lookin at?! Not my belly I hope!

Dude! I think I just felt my baby kick...

Me and my granddaughter Lynna (not really haha)

Note that I'm holding my belly in all the
shots now to prevent it from EXPLODING

Anna and Xuyen look bored... hurry Thanh say a joke!

Oh wait that's right, you're not funny! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!
(If you ever read this blog Thanh... I'm just kidding! Don't hurt me!)

Anna: "Whoa! Paul's taking a picture of us!"
Thanh: "Quick! Pose!"

AWWWWW what a cute couple!

Paul: "Oh my, I didn't know you two were an item!"

Vinh: "They're NOT! BACK OFF ANNA FOO!"

I like how Anna is just sitting back,
sipping her drink thinking: "Yes... fight over me my little minions!"

Group pic time!

Lynna was a little bummed cuz she wasn't in the group pic...
So she took one of herself -_-;;

Dave needs to get out of the way
so Moses can get his mack on

Moses you sly dog!

Anna: "I love you so much Lynna! ..."
Lynna: "Cool!"

Anna: "...THAT I COULD KILL YOU!"
Lynna: "EEK!"

Thanh looks tired... of course.

Well. Not much happened after that. I just went home and slept and prepared myself for the next day... the first Annual Vietnamese Pioneer Session ever! Woo!

Sorry if there wasn't much of a narrative. I hope you enjoy the pictures though! :D
