Of Weddings and Blown Tires - Part 1

When I talk about grand misadventures, this weekend was a TOTAL misadventure. The events that are detailed below are not exaggerated in any way (even though sometimes I wish it was...)

*Edit* I'm just gonna do one post for each day cuz there literally was way too much that happened on each day, and I don't want you guys to look at a bigger wall of text than there already is @__@

This past weekend, I headed on down to Phoenix, AZ to attend the wedding of one of my best friends, Mykol Hynatshak (pronuced My-kul Natty-shack) and to be a part of it too! He asked me a few months back to be part of the wedding party and to be honest I was really surprised but in any case... HOW COULD I REFUSE?!

I flew in using Southwest Airlines which should have cost me 100 bucks less but I decided to be silly and wait until the last minute to purchase tickets and ended up paying extra. That's basically where all the misadventures started unfortunately. In the airplane, I was stuck in between a couple (why were they sitting apart?) where the husband smelled like nasty old cigars and the wife was really chatty. We dispensed with the usual small talk like "Phoenix is really hot!" or "St. Louis is absolutely humid and terrible" to "I believe that Frank Herbert's work was totally demolished by the pop-writing-junk of his son." Just kidding. I seriously doubt that she knew who Frank Herbert was.

In any case, after a couple of moments of awkward silence, I pretended to sleep so she would just leave me alone. Unfortunately for me, I have difficulty actually getting any real sleep in a plane but when I looked over, she was fast asleep! Huh, figures eh. When she woke up about 2 hours later, she had really terrible bed hair and her hair was so matted one way it looked like she had a bald spot. Wish I could have taken a picture... nuts! But yeah, don't want to incur the wrath of old people when they're on both ends of you. I'm very frail :(

James was kind enough to pick me up and let me crash at his place for the weekend (James is the most awesome person in the world, YAY!) but what I didn't know was that his brother, Daniel, and cousin, Yujung, was in town with him as well. I already knew who Daniel was but Yujung was drawing a blank... until I saw her. Then it clicked...

SHE WAS THE FEDORA THIEF AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION!!!

To make a long story short, Yujung likes hats, and so she made it a point to steal my hat. >:[ If you can tell from previous posts, it always cracks me up that people like to take my hat. GET YER OWN!

In any case, we rested up a bit before heading out to eat.

Facebook addicts... *sigh*

We went to this one pizza place called "Oreganos." Really really good pizza and a neat little vibe in the restaurant. Played a lot of old school, swinging jazz (awww yeah!). Topics of the day were ordering water with cherries (huge shocker!), cute guys (I wasn't heavily involved in THAT conversation... heh heh...), and the REAL reason why James goes to LA so much. ;) *wink wink!*

Just goes to show how boring the rest of us are. :(

I totally forgot to take pics of the pizza, but trust me, it was monstrously good. Seriously... monstrously good. ;)

Cookie Ice Cream Pizza + 4 Asians = Nothing Left

After rolling out of the restaurant (literally, cuz I'm so fat) we went shopping for shoes. Apparently we were going "bongsa" the next day (that's Korean for "service") and I didn't have any shoes. This requires some explanation.

Long story short, I needed a black suit, white shirt, and shiny black shoes for the wedding. I had a black suit, but the only white shirt I had had a giant stain on it (think broken pen <:[ ) and I was lacking in SHINY black shoes (I don't know why and I'm not gonna argue with the bride either :x). So, I simply brought with me my black suit thinking I would be able to get a white shirt and shoes while I was in Phoenix. I simply had no idea James wanted to go "bongsa" the very next day. =_= That being said, it was made necessary for us to hit up Walmart (for a shirt) and Payless Shoe Store (for some cheap shoes). While I was at Payless, I decided to get some $10 shades too, to replace the ones I broke awhile back (make a mental note of this, it's actually important). Anyways, we head home, freshen up a bit and decide to rent a movie. Daniel was busy (with FACEBOOK, humph!) so it was James, Yujung, and me who headed out to Blockbuster. There were plenty of movies to be picked out and my personal choice was "Last Chance Harvey" since well, Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman are only the most awesome-est (I know it's not a word) actors in the history of EVER. My amazing persuasion skills (which involves mostly whining, throwing a tantrum, and falling on the ground kicking my legs) won the day.

Korean Cheetos? They're actually pretty good, tastes like ramen ^^

When we DID get home, we ended up watching Serenity instead. Being the pigs we were, we decided to satisfy our munchies.

After Serenity, we decided to just chill a bit and something terrible happened. Yujung, Daniel, and James all got on their Facebooks and I was researching something. I started giving them a little trouble for being Facebookers but that's when the peer pressure started.

"Dude Paul, you should get Facebook."
"Dude Paul, it's a pretty good way to keep in touch with friends."
"Dude Paul, you're like, fat and stuff."
I think that was about it... but... anyways!

See what I had to deal with? Man, I just couldn't handle it so I buckled and signed up for Facebook. Besides, I figured it would be a good way to keep in touch with James.

...

And I was addicted. Little did I know that the few weeks after the trip the Facebook addiction would grow and grow into a cancer that I could not remove without causing huge personal harm to myself. I had thought I would get bored of it in a week or so... but it hasn't. Should I cut off my hand? Should I cut off my foot? Would FB really get me into Gehenna? Decisions decisions...

But after a solid hour of Facebooking, we all went to sleep at like stupid 2 in the MORNING. And we had to wake up in 6 hours to get ready for service. First day wasn't so bad was it?
