Second Leg of the Trip - Los Angeles

Awwwwwriiiight!  It's time for the second leg of our road trip... Los Angeles!  The thing was, we kind of underestimated how long it would take for us to get to Co Le's house, and we arrived there around 1ish.  Kind of late, I know. :(  We weren't exactly sure which house it was and all the lights were off so we didn't want to go around knocking on the door only to find a grouchy dude with a shotgun.  I quickly decided that if anything like that were to happen, Thanh would have to take one for the team.  ;)

Anyways, we were fortunate that Co Le must have heard us snooping around so she put away her shotgun (kidding!) and opened the garage door instead.  We quickly settled in and Co Le graciously cooked up some bun rieu for us.  Awesome!

The next day, Cuong came by to pick us up to eat some brunch.  We stopped by a friend's house and what did we do?  

That's right, we watched a guy play Final Fantasy 12.  Booooring!  We really couldn't do anything either since the restaurant didn't open until 11am.  Sigh.  After waiting around a bit, Thanh asked Cuong to "snap" his back.  That's what he "said" but I'm not sure if that's what actually happened.  See for yourself.

Anyways, we were finally ready to head out but we had some... technical difficulties...

Anyways, we got around to the restaurant and apparently their "lamb" and soup were the best things there, so we stocked up and decided to make a go at it.  Surprisingly... it was really really good.  Can't wait to try it again!

Anyways, after hanging out at the house for awhile, we decided to go to the mall to meet someone else up.  On the way, we decided to think back on old times and...

...took a walk on memory lane.

At the mall, we stopped by a Forever 21 (NOT TO TRY OUT CLOTHES, GOSH!) to get a gift card and we decided to browse around a bit.  We found some pretty neat ones and Thanh found his favorite of all...

Afterwards, Cuong wanted to know if we wanted to eat something.  Me and Thanh both replied no since we were trying to watch our weight a little bit... but about 10 seconds later, Thanh asked, "HEY!  Let's get some boba."  C'mon man!

Well anyways, we walked over to Teavana.  We ordered our drinks and I got a strawberry shake.  Cuong accused me for ordering a "gay drink."  Hey!  I come from California, but not "that" part!

We met up with Sarah (some Korean sister Thanh knows) and thought we might catch a movie.  While at the kiosk, we saw this one kid walking around the pond picking out all the coins.  He actually went around the ENTIRE pond.  Can you believe what the economy has done to our children?

We also passed up a claw machine... Thanh's kryptonite...

We also stopped at the local Borders and we went through the bargain bin first.  I found two really fascinating books and I even thought (for just a couple of seconds) about buying them.

I ended up buying "Cable Guy" and then we went back to Co Le's house to watch.  What a movie... it was an instant classic!

Van came by after work too.  Man she's changed a lot!

After the movie, we went to go get some Thai food.  Apparently there was a pole outside of Co Le's house... so OF COURSE Johnny had to climb up it.

At the Thai food place, we met up with Hung too.  Good times, good friends!

After Thai food, we went to get some crepes.  It's funny, cuz my mom always called it something else... heh heh...

After eating crepes, we went home and watched "Ping Pong Playa" with some Heinekens.  Hilarious movie as well.  "Me lova ping pong long time!"  Afterwards, it was a bit late so we all went to sleep.

Just kidding.  Johnny didn't want to go to sleep yet so we watched some Big Bang Theory episodes to get all the funnies out of our system.  Wow, when I think about it, we watched a lot of stuff that day... crazy...  Okay THEN we went to sleep!

Our beds, all nice and neat.  These were actually REALLY comfortable...

We went to get some "American breakfast" at IHOP and met up with Cuong one final time.  What's funny is that Cuong got lost (IN HIS OWN TOWN) so we had to give him directions.  Of course, Thanh felt a little sleepy after chowing down that monster breakfast.

After all that, we got on the road towards Flagstaff, AZ where my roommate from MTS lives.  The drive was uneventful and a little plain, but Thanh seemed to like the calm serenity that is the desert.  Anyways, more details on the third leg of the trip up next!
